   Efficient ServerThe Project

The Project

The project Efficient Servers is conducted within the EU-programme Intelligent Energy Europe. It aims at demonstrating the high potential for energy savings and cost reductions for servers in practise and at supporting the market development for energy efficient servers. The project is focussed on the following measures:

Case studies for energy efficient optimisation of servers shall demonstrate the energy saving potentials and evaluate the effects on performance, costs and safety

Practical guidelines to support the procurement and management of energy efficient servers shall be developed

Contracting and rebate concepts are developed and tested to support the market development

As a basis for these measures supplier independent efficiency criteria or benchmarks are defined and  technical options for optimising energy efficiency of servers are evaluated on a technical level.

Schedule of the project

Duration of the project: 2 years (spring 2009)

Interim results on energy saving potentials and benchmarks will be published in summer 2007

First results from the case studies will be available in spring 2008

Tools supporting the procurement of energy efficient servers will also be available in spring 2008

Stakeholder Forum

To support the information and project related communication a stakeholder forum will be implemented, addressing the following target groups :

• Server and IT-managers, managers of data centers,
• Server suppliers (manufacturers etc.)
• Supporters and multiplyers (Research institutes, policy makers, etc.)

Stakeholders are invited to register.Thereby you make sure to be informed about project results and to be involved in the stakeholder discussion.
