The project efficient servers aims at supporting the market development of highly energy efficient servers in Europe. The project therefore is of primary interest for manufacturers or suppliers dealing with energy efficiency for server equipment or intending to offer energy saving solutions.
At both European and US-level activities to prepare energy efficiency standards for servers have been started recently. In the USA currently the basis for specifications in the Energy Star programme are prepared. In Europe the development of a new voluntary agreement for energy efficient servers and data centres (code of conduct) is discussed. The Efficient Servers project co-operates with both international initiatives.
« Efficient Servers » supports the development of the supply and demand side market for energy efficient servers by means of the following measures:
• | Best practise cases for the energy efficient optimisation of server systems | • | The development of guidelines fort he procurement and management of energy efficient server solutions | • | The development of generally accepted criteria or benchmarks for energy efficiency of servers | • | The demonstration of energy efficiency potentials at the technical level and at the level of the European market |
